Worked on
Viking ranges, wall ovens, cooktops, professional and integrated refrigeration, and dishwashers behind custom panels.
About
This is an independent appliance repair business working on Viking equipment across Boston. It is not affiliated with Viking, and anything still covered by the manufacturer belongs with a factory-authorised provider — a different route, with different paperwork.
The reason the scope is one manufacturer is that Viking is its own set of habits. Sealed and open burner tops behave differently under a low flame; the professional refrigeration uses a control philosophy that reports faults you have to have seen before to read quickly; and the dishwashers spend their lives behind cabinetry that has to come off cleanly and go back on square.
The reason the scope is one city is stairs and lifts. A North End walk-up, a Fort Point conversion with dock hours and a Roslindale two-family with a side driveway are three completely different visits before anyone touches the appliance. Planning that properly is most of what makes a call go well here.
Scope
One manufacturer, one city. Anything outside gets referred rather than attempted.
Viking ranges, wall ovens, cooktops, professional and integrated refrigeration, and dishwashers behind custom panels.
Laundry, ventilation ducting beyond the appliance, and other manufacturers. Those calls are referred rather than taken.
Access planned on the phone, readings taken at the appliance, then one figure for parts and labour before anything is opened.
Factory-approved parts where they exist for the model. Where a number has been superseded, you hear what the replacement is before it is ordered.
Process
Always this order. Nothing is opened up before the third stage.
Two things get asked on the phone: what is printed on the plate, and how the appliance is reached. In Boston the second one decides the visit as much as the first — stairs, a freight elevator with booking hours, a building manager, or a driveway.
Gas pressure at the manifold, spark and flame sense burner by burner, cavity temperature against the set point, sensor and element resistance, drain and fill behaviour on a dishwasher. Numbers off the machine rather than a guess from the doorway.
Parts and labour quoted as a single number, with the $95 service call inside it on an approved repair. Where the sensible answer is that the appliance is not worth the parts, that is the answer you get.
Talk to someone
The flat $95 service call covers the trip and the diagnosis, and comes off the total on an approved repair.
